Digg Website Integration

Posted by Miles Evans

Kevin Rose has just announced the long awaited full integration of digg into our websites. By this I mean it is now possible to allow members to not only submit your stories but also to allow your users to dig them without leaving your site. Yummy!

There is a much better method to allow users to submit your stories. Click here to download the URL submission specifications and icon pack.

The code to allow people to digg an article right on your website couldn’t be easier:

<script>
digg_url = 'URLOFSTORY';
</script>
<script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script>

From my testing, and others, it would seem this javascript is not yet working in Internet Explorer.

Chances are good we will see the digg API and the visual tools we saw at the digg v3.0 launch quite soon.

Thought I would mention that Digg has made some changes and the javascript does indeed fire in IE 6/7. So now we can have offsite digging. Nice job!

Thanks. IT's very useful for me.
