MovableType Comment Spam

Alright the issue of blog comment spam has been covered and recovered but I figured I would throw my two cents into the ring as everyone seems to have a different approach.
If you are using MoveableType you likely know that version 3.2 utilizes a clever feedback rating framework that provides a completely customized spam-fighting solution via a junk folder, that catches everything marked as junk. What's more, Brad Choate's SpamLookup has been enhanced to work with the framework, adding the ability to check a centralized list of known offenders.
So why am I still getting the odd spam? It’s because some guy with a serious amount of time on his hands is manually spamming me with an automated tool. Now because I do not want to force a registration system like Typekey (ick) there is not a lot I can do to completely stop him. I can however make his job a lot harder:
Change the mt-comments.cgi file to another name. Since most blog spamming software is trained on your mt-comments file this quick trick will really trip up the budding spammer and hopefully he goes elsewhere. If you change your comments script’s name be sure to find this line in mt.cfg and change it accordingly:
CommentScript name-of-script.cgi
Utilize the SpamLookup Keyword Filter that comes stock with MT 3.2. Found in the MT admin area under plugins this is a list of keywords that will automatically toss a comment into the junk bin. This is very effective at keeping even the spammers with skillz out, so take a look at your email inbox or search around to find some good words to use. Pros: Likely the most effective spam arresting method available. Cons: Takes time to build a good list.
Force Preview. MT-Approval gives you the ability to add powerful hashes to your Movable Type-powered commenting system to help secure your site from comment spam. These hashes are made up of several pieces of information, which should make them difficult to reproduce. Pros: Almost completely eliminates automated blog spam. Cons: More clicks.
Set up a CAPTCHA. Example: James Seng's MT-Scode plugin. This is the auto generated string of text you see as an image on some comment systems. Pros: Spammer must either trick users into deciphering the CAPTCHA (yes this is being done!) or manually do it. Cons: People with disabilities may lose the ability to comment.
I myself use the force preview and blacklist method on all of my MT 3.2 blogs and automated comment spam is virtually non existent. Now if I could just keep the penis patches and viagra out of my mail inbox I would be thrilled.
