Am I wrong or is this the most successful viral video campaign ever? I almost hate to report on this here as it will be plastered everywhere, but if you haven't heard...
It seems that Bree or Lonelygirl15 of YouTube fame is a 19 year old New Zealand actress and not a home schooled California teen. And she likes to smoke.
NYT has the full scoop:
Matt Foremski, the 18-year-old son of Tom Foremski, a reporter for the blog Silicon Valley Watcher, was the first to disinter a trove of photographs of the familiar-looking actress, who portrayed the character named Bree in the videos. The episodes suggested Bree was the home-schooled daughter of strictly religious parents who improbably stole time to upload video blogs of her innermost thoughts.
Alright I will grudgingly admit I watched a few LonelyGirl15 videos. It's cheezy stuff but you can’t not be intrigued by the execution of all of this. Virally amazing.
Is it okay to say now that I know Bree is 19 that I would hit that? *cough*

You have to admit they really put some thought into that. I guess it goes back to the whole, "find something that nobody else is doing." I must admit, she's the only 19-year-old pretending to be 15-year-old I know of. Most of the time on the internet, it seems to be 15-year-olds pretending to be 19-year-olds. I bet she had a blast making those movies though - they are pretty funny...
