Clickbank Review

Posted by Miles Evans

Clickbank is the most popular online credit card processor for sites that sell electronically delivered products like ebooks or software. Clickbank is popular for a few reasons. As a seller you don’t have to worry about merchant accounts and shopping carts and can begin selling immediately. Another huge bonus is CB will operate your affiliate program and even help you get recruits. This all comes at a very reasonable cost. CB charges a one time fee of $49.95 to sellers and 7.5% + $1.00 on every sale. This is quite reasonable considering items sold on CB are non-tangible items like ebooks and software.

Clickbank vendors have a history of providing large commissions in the 30-50% bracket so it is also very popular to marketers. Almost everyone marketing products online today is either promoting some Clickbank vendors or selling their own products with their service. As a Clickbank affiliate you have the opportunity to instantly begin selling from a vast array of products, which CB reports at over 10,000 different items.

As I mentioned ClickBank allows you to set up an affiliate program with your account. You can set commissions at pretty much any level that you want - some merchants are even offering commissions at up to 80%. ClickBank has around 150 000 affiliates signed up and all of them can promote your product just by going to the affiliate area and grabbing your link.

One of CB’s better features is that there is no need to sign up to every CB product you want to sell. You can just browse the product marketplace and instantly get the URL’s you need to begin promotion. This does have a drawback though as it is very easy to change an affiliate link you find for a product you purchase and change it to your own. In fact some people estimate this happens 25% of the time.

Another weakness I will point out with CB is their stats (see image at right). There is no CTR or campaign specific data and the statistics are very basic displaying mainly your sales, refunds and chargebacks. Also keep in mind that due to the nature of CB’s products, refunds are also quite high. Speaking of refunds Clickbank has a strict policy that all products sold through it have a 90 day no-hassle refund policy. If a customer wants a refund, they get it, it’s that simple. This is obviously both good and bad.

Anyone looking to promote products as an affiliate should sign up and I would recommend that anyone selling their first electronic product should also use them to sell it. If your business grows and you release more products later you may have better options but by then you should have created a loyal group of affiliates. No company helps you get started as well as ClickBank does.

If you haven’t already check out Clickbank’s website for more info.
